WindRiders weekend,

Well Fanø was great, secure beach, good wind, we all could ride together and friendly people. Friday was a great warm up day, with light NW wind, so the flyboarders were in the fore, great air and was good for us non kiters to try, even Henrik was hooked. Friday night was BBQ night, thanks Phil for the great wood, my oak was just a little to hard. Good fun and games which touch rugby and night frisbees. Up early on Saturday with good westerly winds, now everybody was out playing, flyboarders, kite buggies, kitewings, and blokarts and the speed challenge was on. The freestyle had long been gone to the flyboarders, those guys were so sweet. The only slight mark on the day was some dumb kite buggier (G1249) who seemed to think the beach was his and was being a dangerous pain in the arse. He did himself in with a very dangerous move and packed up his tangled kite and dragged himself off. The speed challenged was getting intense, as the blokart was in the lead with 51.9km/hr and only the kitewing with dirtsurfer coming close. The flyboarders were determined to do better and did, but the blokart was up to the challenge and moved ahead again as the wind was picking up all the time. It seemed the blokart had it at 53.2km/hr until I invited Sven from Buggy-ban.de to try in his kite buggy, he accepted the challenge and busted the blokart with 59km/hr, game over. Sorry Dominic, but is just my sense of fair play. Shame we did not get the kitesurfer to have ago as it would have been interesting to see what he could do. After a full day in great wind it was a early pack up and back for some food and beer. Got everybody involved in a game of nails, very Danish which went down well with a few beers, but most people were busted and it was a early night for some, others playing poker to he small hours. Sunday was good wind NW, not so early start and people a little blown, so chilled day and then people started moving off, Holland is a long way. Thanks everybody for a fantastic weekend, thanks Fanø for letting us play and catch you in the wind some day, later dudes!

Clarification

There seems to be some misunderstanding about blokarts. Yes, blokarts come in many formats, in fact no other strandsejler has the ability to be all things to all people. No other strandsejler can be used by a 2m high 120kg person one minute and the next by a 6 year old. No other strandsejler has the ability to change from a family fun machine with two seats to a regatta winning race machine the next. This is all possible due to the fantastic design of the blokart, its base structure can change to your needs. Yes, we welcome disabled people also, as Jorgen proved some years ago, even with only one leg and one arm is it possible to sail a blokart. so in short if you want a strandsejler that can change to your needs then there is only one machine for you, a blokart. If you want to buy another product, remember you need a trailer to take it around, be limited to one set up, not be able to let your kids have a go and loose regattas then you are very welcome to buy another brand. Hope this clears up a few points.

Quality costs

We make no apology for the cost of blokarts, yes, they are not cheap but quality costs, you cannot buy a Audi for the price of a Seat, its all down to the quality of the product, the design and service. How many other landsailers have so many dealers in so many countries, so no matter were you go in the world with your blokart you are sure to find expert advice and spare parts close at hand.

Sense Prevails

It seems sense has prevailed and the few were not allowed to spoil it for the many and we can now race in the regattas with original blokart parts, thank you to those responsible for making this very sensible decision.

We have been banned form the Rømø kite festival by Skov og Naturstyrelsen, see the mail I received from kite club

Hej Tim (Blokart)

So we will not see you there!

Weekend of the 24-25 May was one to remember

It was a regatta weekend for Rømø Strandsejler klub and everything was just about perfect, warm sunning weather, strengthening eastly wind, beach a little too dry so soft, but ok. I am not allowed to join the club ( its a long story) so cannot race, but my man who I sponsor and help can and does. I had helped him go faster with add ons and we had play raced so he knew what he was doing and has been getting better and better over last season. Up to now he has not been keen to let me set his blokart up for racing, but this weekend was different. Well the first race I watched, I could not believe it, he won with ease. Great pride for me and him. I had to work after this so could not watch more, but lets just say he did very well over two days. So much so that some of the respected club members even recognized blokarts as a serious racing machine, great honour for blokarts, I think they have come of age.

Danish Open 2008

Another light wind weekend, but plenty of sunshine and good friends new and old to play with. Thank you blokart for the 5.5m sail as without it no racing possible at all. Got some 6 half wind races in, so could get some results. Good showing for the Danes and the Lithuanians doing well, great video on youtube, thank you Matas, see it here. Thank you all for your help and great spirit, those who did not come you missed out, maybe next time.

DBF days,

We have been very lucky on the two meet ups we have had this winter on Vejers in Jan and Romo in Feb, both days great wind and good weather. Torsten keeps winning the racing but still says he does not enjoy, will someone please stop him doing this, winning that is. Even had a unmentionable turn up last time, maybe I was a little rude, but I feel strongly about this. Paul as some will know is my family and I feel all his hard work and courage to invent and put blokarts on the world map should not be nicked by some cheap stake Scot who bangs out a inferior product in China. I hear all the time, but they are so cheap and blokarts so expensive, well in this life you get what you pay for, don't here people moaning about the price of BMW or Audi, they pay the money and enjoy the quality product and service. So please do not expect me to welcome them, help them out or supply spare parts. Hope they enjoy them but please not with my time, effort and energy. Look forward to seeing as many as possible of you at Easter and the annual general meeting.

Happy Christmas and hope you have a blast in the New Year.

Been a funny old season, started great with warm Easter and may and then things went down hill. Most of June all July and august were cold and wet, plenty of wind but also a lot of water so the beach was wet most of the time. Played masses of Frisbee golf and now it is classed as a extreme sport as Tom broke a rib roof climbing (collecting Frisbee), seemed to do a far bit of this a s well.  Danish open was wet, but at least we had heaps of wind and Sunday was perfect with some serious high speed racing. The Dutch invasion took the title which was only fitting, but with some strong competition from Neil, our only Danish hope. Jippie stayed on to maintain the Dutch presents and was a great and enthusiastic help during the summer, hope she will come again next year. Did some large groups this year with 50 in Feb, bloody freezing and a group of 60 in the end of august with ballistic wind and a very wet beach, but all seemed to enjoy. But I wish they would leave my helpers alone, Phil got hit again. I did not make it to the Europeans but had the Team well represented with Torsten, Peter, Dominic, Tom and Jippie, all seemed to have a lot of fun, even with very little wind. The October holidays were great, good weather and plenty of people, nice way to finish the season. Tried to have a last DBF meet in Dec but it was total still, no wind at all, very eerie feeling. Will be interesting and exciting to see what next season brings.

Notice of bereavement

We bring you the sad news that Kreachy otherwise known as The Crash Kart or The Tango Kart, has finally past on. After 6 years of hard beach work, abuse and neglect has finally given way. Kreachy came from NZ when we fly back in 2001, in her life she changed colour three times, starting  gray, going orange and ending up black. She did a lot of demo work, school work, stunt work and even got sold at one point. We would like to say thank you Kreachy  for giving us so much fun and for lasting so well and putting up with our terrible antics, may you go to make something that will give others as much joy as you did us.

Hope to see you there, it will be fantastic

Danish Open and Freestyle Festival

Well what a weekend, to say it was wet on sat would be a total understatement, in fact search and rescue are still looking for two blokarters washed away! We have invented a new class of blokart, sub-aqua blokarting. Sunday was much better with the beach drying very fast during the morning to create some fantastic racing conditions. It was great to see Neil and Johan racing neck and neck, with Richard, Tom and Sandra battling it out behind. Sandra got 'Person of the race' a special award given by the marshals for the person who shows the best spirit, game man ship, sporting behavior and who had the most fun from the racing. The freestyle competition was performed under very difficult conditions on the Saturday, but was of a very high standard, with some sweet 360, 180 to 2 wheels out and even a new trick, the Maas Two wheel stop no hands.

Thanks to Heidi, Kim, Peter for marshalling, Karin, Pia and Gitte for scoring and Mark for use of his quad. And of course all the people who where brave enough to ride through the water on Saturday. A very special thanks to Tom for his hard work and enthusiasm.
